How to Use Rail bolt kits to Attach Handrail?

Customers, most often than not, remain in doubt about why a rail bolt kit is required to attach handrail fittings or handrail to newel posts. Aren’t we able to nail them together, is one of the questions that we keep hearing most of the time. Nailing fittings together is possible and can be found in some homes, but nailing handrail to a handrail fitting or to a newel post is very unsightly and weak.

The rail bolt kit brings about a strong mechanical bond that has not effect of changes in moisture content of the wood. A rail bolt kit is a 1/4 threaded bolt that comes with machine screws on one end wood threads on the other end. Make a hole into the center of handrail fitting or stair newel post. Put the wood threads into the hole in the handrail fitting. A rail bolt wrench is an essential tool used for inserting the rail bolt into the handrail fitting but for causing any damage to threads.

Now, let’s make a hole of 1/2″ into the handrail’s center. Make a hole of 3/4″ in the handrail’s bottom in order that it can crisscross the hole of1/2″. Place the handrail over the stud and insert the washer over the stud. Use the rail-bolt wrench and the rubber band to get started the nut on the rail-bolt wrench. Use some glue to the handrail’s faces and the handrail fitting. Make the nut tighter on the rail bolt. Do ensure that the fitting and handrail are into the seamless alignment. Put the plug into the handrail’s bottom by applying glue. When the glue gets dried up, rub down the plug so that it is flush.

The joint between the handrail fitting and handrail is now durable and strong for several years.
